“Boy you people are going to like the new horror film Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. One part horror movie, one part mockumentary and two parts awesome. Director Scott Glosserman and his main star Nathan Baesel have taken the conventions of 70’s and 80’s slasher horror and taken it to a place that even Scream creator Kevin Williamson would fear to tread.”

“Talking with Scott Glosserman is caffeine for the editor. He’s full of ideas, crackling with energy and passionate about horror cinema. If you’ve the pleasure of speaking with Glosserman in your lifetime, he’s the perfect model of the enthusiastic and appreciative genre director (not to pigeonhole the man, either, but that’s the mantle he carries at the moment). Horror is a strange business, and the personalities of the people connect with supporters in powerful ways. Glosserman is in good shape on that front.
It’s a pleasure to bring his work to the fore this week, as Hollywood unveils “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.” ”

“Scott Glosserman is a pretty smart guy, but you’d probably expect that from the filmmaker behind Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, a movie that’s as clever as it is funny in the way it deconstructs the horror-slasher genre.”

LV: When watching a horror flick, do you relate more to the victim or the killer?
SG: That sort of depends on whether I am watching HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW or not.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon puts a mockumentary twist on the horror genre. A young psycho killer allows a documentary crew to follow him as he prepares for a night of murderous rampage in a small town. He idolizes horror slashers Mike Myers, Freddie and Jason and dissects the genre for the benefit of his viewers. The film is directed by Scott Glosserman who co-wrote the script with David J. Stieve.
