“…this film was a perfect ending to an incredible festival. BEHIND THE MASK is a slasher film that actually surprised me!”
“Director Scott Glosserman does a kick ass job combining the documentary footage with the real slasher stuff.”
“I just adore that I was so surprised by this film even after such a glowing review from Quint.”

“We love Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon…”
“Tell me if this plot doesn’t catch your interest… Recently world premeiring at Austin’s SXSW Film Festival was director Scott Glosserman’s new horror moc-umentary, “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon”.”
“Director Scott Glosserman’s new horror-mocumentary, “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon,” takes a fresh and informative look at the world of slasher-film psycho killers.”
“Though the movie, which made its world premiere at the 2006 SXSW festival, mostly satirizes the genre, it’s unlike the Wayans brothers’ “Scary Movie” series and takes a more “Blair Witch” meets “Halloween” feel…”

“It’s rare today to find a film that tries to bring something new to the horror genre, but Scott Glosserman intends to do just that. His debut film, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is a slasher film with brains along with a wicked since of humor. It stars Nathan Baesel as the films title character, and features film icons Robert Englund, Zelda Rubinstein, and Scott Wilson. Recently I got the chance to do an interview with Scott Glosserman to talk about Behind the Mask. He is incredibly busy, so I want to start by saying thanks to Scott for being one of the nicest guys I’ve come across in the business, and thank you for doing this interview.”

“…I implore any lover of the genre to check this movie out when you get a chance.”
“I hope McFarlane Movie Maniacs makes a Leslie Vernon figure, because he deserves a space next to Freddie, Jason, and Meyers.”
“We knew the cast was good, and we knew the idea was cool- but pulling off a kick-ass indie horror film isn’t as easy as you’d think. Today we received our very own review of Scott Glosserman’s Behind the Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon straight from this year’s SXSW film fest, and it’s just as positive, just as raving, just as exciting as the other reviews that have appeared thus far.”
“Director Scott Glosserman’s magnum opus is tailor made for genre geeks…”
“Leslie Vernon makes an extraordinary and unpredictable addition to the sanctuary of cinema psychos, and Director Scott Glosserman carves his name beside that of Lucky McKee and Eli Roth as one of the most exciting new filmmakers to tackle the bloody world of horror.”
“Comparisons to “Scream” have been mentioned quite a bit, but I think that’s a little off. This is a smarter, vastly more entertaining movie.”
“…the filmmakers have quite a few clever tricks up their sleeves, bringing us a smart, refreshing an affectionate skewering of a celebrated genre.”
